By Public Transportation
Puerto Rico is a very modern island much like the United States, you can find taxis, a bus system and publicos (public / shared rides, fixed cost with set routes). More about getting around by public transportation.
There are public ferries transporting to the offshore islands of Vieques, Culebra and from the San Juan Pier to Catano and Hato Rey.
