Ponce, the second oldest city of Puerto Rico, founded in 1692 by Ponce de Leon’s great grandson. Ponce is known as “La Perla del Sur” / The Pearl of the South and locals take much pride on that.  Ponce faces the Caribbean Sea and gently slopes towards the hills of the central mountains.  Ponce is a destination that may appeal to architecture, art and cultural event lovers. As you walk around the city you can admire the elegant neoclassical and European style architecture.

There is a nice variety of attractions to keep you busy for a few days. If you stay overnight be sure to spend a day on the offshore island of Caja de Muertos, a gorgeous island with crystal clear waters great for snorkeling and enjoying the sun.
