Travel to Puerto Rico is Convenient, Affordable,
& No Passport Required for U.S. Citizens
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, commonly known as San Juan International Airport is the main airport in Puerto Rico and the largest one in the Caribbean. This modern airport welcomes visitors from about 50 countries around the world. “SJU” (airport code) is the Caribbean hub offering many connecting flights to other islands in the Caribbean and other countries in Latin America. Puerto Rico is the most easily accessible island on the Caribbean with no passport required for US citizens. Although it is also known as the San Juan Airport, it’s actually located in the neighboring district of Isla Verde, Carolina – just 8 miles east of Old San Juan. See the map of its location below.
After you land at the airport, you can travel to your final vacation destination by renting a car just a few steps from the Arrival Level terminals in the Parking Garage on the 1st Level.
You may also use the services of a Taxi Turistico which you’ll find waiting at the Arrival Level terminals of the airport. From the airport a taxi ride to Old San Juan takes about 30 minutes at the rate of $19. See the taxi rates chart for more information.
